Verdict in brief
If a €150 difference doesn't bother you, Jen recommends the Xiaomi 15T Pro with a stronger processor, 5x telephoto, 8K video and wireless charging. The 15T is the best-value pick for anyone who would rather invest the money elsewhere.

Display
Both have a 6.83-inch AMOLED display with very thin bezels, 1280 x 2772 pixels and up to 3,200 nits peak brightness. Both are protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i. The difference is in the refresh rate: 120 Hz on the 15T, 144 Hz on the Pro. For gamers and anyone who wants absolutely buttery-smooth scrolling, that can be noticeable. For most people it’s probably not a game changer.
Processor
This is where the wheat is separated from the chaff. The 15T has the MediaTek Dimensity 8400 Ultra, a 4-nanometer chip with an octa-core CPU up to 3.25 GHz. That’s excellent for everyday use, demanding apps and most games. The 15T Pro uses the Dimensity 9400 Plus on a 3-nanometer process, with up to 3.63 GHz and the Immortalis G925 GPU. It offers noticeably more performance in graphics-intensive games, video editing and multitasking. The average user hardly notices the difference in everyday use. Power users and mobile gamers appreciate the extra performance, and for them the extra cost can be worth it.
Camera
Both have a triple camera setup with Leica lenses: 50-megapixel wide-angle, 12-megapixel ultrawide and a 32-megapixel selfie camera that also takes nice portraits thanks to the Leica presets. The main camera of the 15T Pro has a slightly larger aperture (f/1.6) and a larger sensor, the Light Fusion 900. In theory, that should lead to better low-light shots.
The biggest difference is the telephoto. The 15T has a 50-megapixel telephoto with 2x optical zoom, solid for portraits and light zoom shots. The 15T Pro has a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto with 5x optical zoom. That’s a massive advantage for concerts, sports, nature and portraits, because the zoom creates wonderful bokeh in the background. I had a lot of fun with that in particular.
For video, the 15T records excellent 4K video at 30 or 60 FPS. The 15T Pro shoots in 8K at 30 FPS and in 4K at up to 120 FPS, handy for slow motion without quality loss. For content creators and anyone who uses their smartphone professionally or semi-professionally or just enjoys high-quality footage, the Pro is better suited.
Battery and charging
Both have a 5,500 mAh battery, which easily lasts more than a day for most people. There are differences in charging:
- Xiaomi 15T: 67 watts wired, from 0 to 100% in about 50 minutes.
- Xiaomi 15T Pro: 90 watts wired with Hypercharge, full in 36 minutes. Plus 50 watts wireless, full in about 56 minutes. The 15T has no wireless charging at all.
If you want maximum flexibility and the fastest charging times, the Pro is clearly ahead. If 67 watts is enough and you don’t need wireless charging, the 15T is sufficient.
Xiaomi Offline Communication
New in the 15T series is Xiaomi Astral Communication, a system of several technologies, including Xiaomi Offline Communication. For the first time, it enables a direct voice connection between two devices of the 15T series via Bluetooth, without cellular or Wi-Fi. The range is up to 1.9 km on the 15T Pro and 1.3 km on the 15T. That suits regions without coverage, such as remote hiking trails or the rail line between Hanover and Berlin. I welcome it because it’s new, and real innovations are rare at many manufacturers. I also like that it’s not only the Pro that has the feature.
Other differences
- Both run Android 15 and HyperOS 2. HyperOS 3 is supposed to follow soon, which I’m looking forward to.
- The 15T is 0.3 mm slimmer and 16 g lighter, hardly noticeable in everyday use.
- Both have WiFi 6E, Bluetooth 6.0, NFC and an infrared port. The Pro additionally supports WiFi 7.
- USB-C 2.0, in-display fingerprint sensor and the same sensors are identical.
- Colors: The 15T comes in Black Gray and Rosé Gold, the Pro in Gray and in my beloved Mocha Gold. That color is truly made for me.
Price and verdict
The answer is: It depends, on needs and budget.
The Xiaomi 15T has an RRP of €649.90. For that you get an excellent display, more than enough performance for everyday use and most games, a very good camera and fast charging. For me, it’s the best-value pick in this comparison.
The Xiaomi 15T Pro is for anyone who wants the maximum performance in this price range. The RRP is €799.90. The stronger processor, the 5x optical zoom, the 8K video, the faster charging and the wireless charging make it a real flagship killer.
Neither is a bad choice. If a €150 difference doesn’t bother you, I recommend the 15T Pro. If you’d rather invest the money elsewhere, for example in Xiaomi’s new open-ear stereo headphones, you can pick the Xiaomi 15T with a clear conscience.
