Processor (Snapdragon, Exynos, Tensor, and more)

The processor is the computing center of a smartphone. Snapdragon, Exynos, Tensor, Dimensity, and Kirin are the chip lines of different manufacturers.

What does Processor (Snapdragon, Exynos, Tensor, and more) mean?

A smartphone doesn't contain a single processor but a “system on a chip”: computing cores, graphics, cellular modem, and the unit for AI tasks all sit on one shared component.

Snapdragon comes from Qualcomm, Exynos from Samsung, Tensor from Google, Dimensity from MediaTek, and Kirin from Huawei. Apple builds its chips for the iPhone itself. Within each line, there are models for the high end and for cheaper devices.

For everyday use, even a mid-range chip has long been enough. The difference shows in demanding games, in video editing, in AI features running directly on the device, and in how warm the device gets.

A general explanation of the term, not from a video. How it plays out on a specific device in everyday use is covered in the reviews below.
