Pros

  • Good sound, especially the bass
  • Active noise cancellation a bit better than on the Galaxy Buds Pro and AirPods Pro
  • 7 hours of battery, 21 hours in total with the case
  • Very good call quality
  • Pairing without an extra app

This time, from my Good and Cheap series, I have the SoundPeats Mini Pro. I have already tested the predecessor, the SoundPeats Mini, and the Pro in the new version’s name is more than deserved. The manufacturer provided the earbuds to me for the test. No money was paid for it, and the manufacturer had no say.

Sound, price and battery

The sound is better again, and especially the bass blew me away on these small in-ears that weigh 4.9 g. The predecessor has a €39.99 recommended retail price (RRP), and the Mini Pro has a €65.99 RRP.

  • Battery: 7 hours on one charge. The case recharges them twice, for 21 hours in total. That gets me safely through any workday with calls, podcasts and music, for example during workouts.
  • Charging: The case charges via USB-C.
  • What’s in the box: Charging cable, extra silicone tips and an instruction manual.

Pairing, fit and controls

The earbuds pair easily with Android and iOS devices via Bluetooth. No extra app is needed, which I think is very good. Thanks to the silicone tips, they sit securely and comfortably in the ear, even during workouts. You don’t have to be afraid of them falling out.

The touch controls are much more extensive than on the more expensive models from Samsung and Apple. You can stop the music, skip forward and back, change the volume, accept or decline calls and call up your smartphone’s voice assistant.

Active noise cancellation

New and appropriate for the price is the active noise cancellation. If you press and hold the left earbud, you switch between ANC, transparency mode and normal mode. All modes sound good, and the ANC is very good. According to the manufacturer, ambient noise is reduced by 30 decibels, which I can’t measure. But I find the noise cancellation a touch better than on my Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro and the Apple AirPods Pro.

Calls

Call quality is very important to me, and it is really very good, as it already was on the predecessors. The people I talk to understand me loud and clear, and I get very good sound quality myself.

Verdict

I can really recommend the SoundPeats Mini Pro. They are a good alternative to the much more expensive competing models from Samsung, Apple and others. The sound quality with the very good bass in particular surprised me in a good way.
