Galaxy Z Flip 4 Unboxing: My First Impressions in Pink Gold
Verdict in brief
Unboxing the Galaxy Z Flip 4 in Pink Gold won me over: Jen considers it her favorite smartphone of the year. Whether battery life is really better will only be shown by the hands-on. These are first impressions.
Pros
- Pink Gold looks very elegant
- Glossy frame looks higher quality
- Handy, light and fits in any pocket
- Bigger battery and new processor focused on energy efficiency
Cons
- Cover display did not get bigger
- No charging adapter in the box
- €50 more expensive than its predecessor
- Not dust-resistant
The Galaxy Z Flip 4 is the device I’ve been looking forward to the most this year. I bought it myself, in the base version with 128 GB and in the color Pink Gold. Here are my first impressions after unboxing.
What’s in the box and first impressions
In the box there’s a USB-C to USB-C cable and the paperwork. That was quick. Then comes the film, which I find really awful, and the many stickers and plastic films on the frame.
Pink Gold is a very subtle gold, more cream-colored. It looks even nicer than I imagined. I think I’ve found my favorite smartphone for this year.

In my opinion, the glossy frame makes the device look even higher quality. All other dimensions have stayed the same compared to the Galaxy Z Flip 3, so it’s just as handy and light and fits in any pocket. The fingerprint sensor sits in the power button as usual, and there are dual speakers.
Cover display and battery
With the 1.9-inch cover display, you can now write short replies without opening the device. Unfortunately, it hasn’t gotten bigger. I had hoped for that a little.
My biggest hope is that battery life improves significantly compared to the Z Flip 3. The battery is bigger, and the new Snapdragon processor focuses on energy efficiency. That keeps my hopes rising, we’ll see.
What’s next
I’m setting up my Z Flip 4 as my daily driver now. You’ll get my hands-on report soon.
