Galaxy Tab S10 FE and S10 FE Plus: which Samsung tablet is worth it most?
Verdict in brief
If you want a compact Samsung tablet, get the Tab S10 FE with 10.9 inches; if you want maximum power, get the Tab S10 Ultra. Between the Tab S10 FE Plus and the Tab S10 Plus, Jen would pick the Tab S10 Plus because of its much better features.
Pros
- Tab S10 FE: the only compact Samsung tablet at 10.9 inches
- All models with IP68 and S Pen included
- Tab S10 Plus: 120 Hz AMOLED, stronger processor, WiFi 6E, USB-C 3.2
Cons
- Tab S10 FE Plus only with a TFT display and a maximum of 90 Hz
- Tab S10 FE Plus with thick display bezels
- Tab S10 FE Plus has WiFi without the 6 GHz band and a slower USB port
The Galaxy Tab S10 FE series, with the 10.9-inch Tab S10 FE and the 13.1-inch Tab S10 FE Plus, is the entry to Samsung’s premium tablet class. The Tab A series is at the bottom, the FE series in the middle, the S series at the top. I looked at the specs and asked myself whether the FE models are worth it at all or whether you’re better off going straight for a Tab S10. Those have been on the market longer and have dropped in price.
The small Tab S10 FE and the Tab S10 Ultra
At €579 recommended retail price (RRP), the Tab S10 FE is the cheapest model. If you want a compact Samsung tablet, this is your best bet, because all the other models in the comparison have 12, 13 or 14 inches. There is no alternative. I’m always team compact and would be very happy about an Ultra tablet in this size, maybe in a few years.
If you want the biggest tablet with the most power, the Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra is the right choice. It is the only tablet with the MediaTek Dimensity 9300 Plus and, if you like, up to 16 GB of RAM. I found it at Amazon from €1,045, and maybe even cheaper elsewhere. If you want to replace your laptop with it, the decision is easy: either you want the compact tablet or you want the power.
Tab S10 FE Plus vs. Tab S10 Plus
It gets difficult with the middle models. Because the regular Tab S10 Plus has dropped in price, the two are currently only about €130 apart, and with a bit of patience maybe even less. The performance, on the other hand, differs significantly:
| Tab S10 FE Plus | Tab S10 Plus | |
|---|---|---|
| Display | TFT, maximum 90 Hz | Dynamic AMOLED, 120 Hz |
| Display bezels | thick | thinner |
| Processor | weaker | MediaTek Dimensity 9300 Plus |
| Storage | only 256 GB | also with 512 GB |
| Charging | 45 watts | 45 watts |
| WiFi | without 6 GHz band | WiFi 6E |
| USB-C | slower | USB-C 3.2 |
WiFi 6E means that the Tab S10 Plus can use the new 6 GHz band. That can bring faster and more stable internet. If several devices are on the same WiFi, the tablet doesn’t get in their way because it is on a different band. The USB-C 3.2 port transfers data faster.
All the devices share the IP68 certification. The S Pen is also included with all of them. It is my favorite stylus of all time, because the soft tip makes writing and drawing so great.
Verdict: which tablet is worth it for whom?
With so many significant differences, I would take the Tab S10 Plus for roughly €130 extra. If you use the tablet every day over long periods like I do, the 120 Hz AMOLED display alone is worth the extra cost. I also don’t like the look of the FE Plus’s thick display bezels. As with the Galaxy S24 FE, I wonder how much sense the FE models make at these prices. Their prices will keep falling, but so will those of the regular models.
- Compact: Tab S10 FE with 10.9 inches.
- Maximum power: Tab S10 Ultra.
- Mid-size: Tab S10 Plus instead of Tab S10 FE Plus.
