How do I unlock my smartphone with the Galaxy Watch 8?

In the settings under Lock screen, Extend Unlock, add the Galaxy Watch 8 as a trusted device. Then the phone stays unlocked as long as you wear the watch.

Step by step

  1. Open the Settings.
  2. Go to Lock screen and then to Extend Unlock.
  3. Enter your PIN.
  4. Open Trusted devices and tap Add device.
  5. Tap your Galaxy Watch 8.

This saves you from constantly entering the PIN or placing your finger on the power button. Jen says the phone stays unlocked as long as you wear the Galaxy Watch. It only locks automatically when the Bluetooth connection is lost or the phone has been inactive for four hours.
