How do you set up the Galaxy Watch 4 with your phone?
In short
Open the Galaxy Wearable app, add a new device, choose the watch and confirm pairing. Then accept the notices and copy your Google account to the watch.
Step by step
- On your Samsung or Android device, install the Galaxy Wearable app and open it.
- Choose the language and the country.
- Add a new device.
- Choose the Galaxy Watch 4 as soon as it is detected in the list.
- Check the number shown and confirm pairing.
- Accept Samsung's privacy notice and Google's terms of use. Sending diagnostic data is optional.
- Wait until the watch is prepared. This can take a few minutes.
- Copy your Google account to the watch, and unlock the phone to do so.
- Skip restoring from a backup if you haven't backed up a previous watch.
- Wait until the watch and phone report that they are ready.
Setup takes a few minutes in total because the watch downloads data several times. With the new operating system, setup also links your Google account to the watch, which wasn’t the case before. According to Jen, the watch with the new software can also no longer be used with an iPhone, only with Android devices.
