Foldable (cover display, hinge, crease)
A foldable is a smartphone with a foldable display. There are two designs: the book style, which opens up into a small tablet, and the flip style, which fits into any pocket when folded.
What does Foldable (cover display, hinge, crease) mean?
The cover display is the screen you use when the device is closed. On the book style, it is a full-fledged phone display; on the flip style, it is a smaller window for notifications, widgets, and selfies with the main camera.
The hinge holds the two halves together and determines how flat the device closes and at which angles it stays in place. The crease is the spot where the inner display bends. Depending on the device, it is more or less visible and noticeable.
Foldables are more delicate than regular smartphones. The inner display is softer than glass, and not every model is protected against dust.
A general explanation of the term, not from a video. How it plays out on a specific device in everyday use is covered in the reviews below.
