Pros

  • Lightweight and compact at 6.5 kg
  • Cleans floor, walls and waterline
  • Setup in under 5 minutes, app control
  • Auto-park mode and OTA updates
  • Reliable obstacle detection

A pool in the garden is nice, but cleaning it by hand is a lot of work. The WYBOT B1 takes that off your hands. For me, it is not just a simple pool vacuum but a real gadget.

What’’s in the box and design

The B1 arrives compactly packaged and is smaller than expected, which I mean as a compliment. It weighs just 6.5 kg. That matters because you have to put it into the water and take it out again. Visually it looks clean and modern, not like a bulky industrial machine you want to hide in the basement. I think that, compared to other pool robots, it has the best ratio of intelligence to size.

In the box you get:

  • the robot
  • a power supply
  • the filter basket, already installed
  • a side brush for the corners

Setup in under 5 minutes

The B1 is controlled via the WYBOT app. Setup takes less than 5 minutes, with no tools and no tutorial. Before the first use, you should definitely set the pool material and floor shape in the app. That sounds like a small thing, but it makes a real difference to the cleaning performance. The B1 is suitable for all pool shapes: round, rectangular, with steps or even for a simple above-ground pool.

Cleaning: floor, walls, waterline

  • Area: up to 100 square meters of pool floor
  • Filter: The filter basket holds 2 liters and has a filter fineness of 180 microns. Even fine sand ends up in the basket. In the before-and-after comparison, the difference was visible.
  • Walls and waterline: The B1 climbs up the walls and cleans the waterline, where grease film, sunscreen and algae collect. Cheap robots often give up here. Four-wheel drive instead of classic rubber tracks makes this possible.
  • Corners: The attachable side brush makes sure that even the dead corners of rectangular pools aren’’t ignored.

App, modes and battery

The app connects to the B1 via Bluetooth. There are five cleaning modes, including the quick clean in one to two hours, ideal for smaller pools or unexpected guests, and the full clean of floor, walls and waterline. In Eco mode, the battery lasts up to 120 minutes. Charging takes three hours. You can work well with that rhythm: just put it in the pool briefly every morning while you drink your coffee.

  • Auto-park mode: When the battery runs low, the B1 drives to the pool wall by itself and parks there. You can simply take it out and don’’t have to dive for it.
  • OTA updates: The software is updated through the app, like you know it from your smartphone.
  • Obstacle detection: The B1 uses active detection via the four drive rollers and a gyroscope. Ladders, steps or a floating flip-flop are reliably driven around. It doesn’‘t get stuck and doesn’’t spin in circles, as you know it from cheap robots.

Price

At the time of the video, the B1 cost €359.99 on the WYBOT website. For a robot with floor, wall and waterline cleaning, cordless operation, app control, OTA updates and auto-park, this combination is a real sweet spot. The links are in the video description.

Maintenance tip

Clean the filter basket regularly, and the suction power stays consistently good. If the B1 lifts at the front or pops wheelies in the water, that is a warning sign that the filter is full.

Verdict

For me, the WYBOT B1 is not a gimmick but a useful, well-thought-out device for anyone who ideally takes care of their pool every day but doesn’’t want to scrub it by hand every day. What convinced me were the wall cleaning, the battery life, the auto-park and the fact that it simply works without any effort.
