Samsung Galaxy Watch 5
What does Jen say about the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5?
The Galaxy Watch 5 is an excellent everyday companion and a very good choice for a new smartwatch if you don't mind charging it daily. If you have the Watch 4, you don't need the upgrade, unless you want the temperature feature once it is available.
Pros
- Nice size and barely noticeable at 28.7 g (40 mm)
- Sapphire glass display
- Wear OS with Google Assistant, display responds faster to touch
- Good tracking of sports, sleep, and body composition with Samsung Health
- Replying with a swipe-gesture keyboard works surprisingly well
Cons
- Battery lasts only about 1.75 days, the watch has to be charged daily
- Temperature functions are not yet available at launch
- Only small differences from the Galaxy Watch 4

Oura Ring
What does Jen say about the Oura Ring?
All four rings track essentially the same things. The Oura Ring is for fans of the market leader and iPhone users, the Galaxy Ring for Android, Ultrahuman for depth of detail and blood sugar, and RingConn is the affordable entry. Jen is replacing her Oura Ring with the Galaxy Ring.
Pros
- All four rings are comfortable to wear and high quality
- Battery lasts up to about a week, 5 days on the Galaxy Ring
- Sleep, temperature, heart rate, blood oxygen and HRV on all of them
- Temperature-based cycle tracking is especially good on the Oura and Galaxy Ring
- Galaxy Ring and RingConn with no ongoing costs
Cons
- Readings differ noticeably between the rings, especially for steps and sleep
- Oura Ring: €399 to €549 depending on color, plus a €5.99 subscription per month
- Ultrahuman: blood sugar feature costs an extra €24.99 per month, app only in English
- Galaxy Ring and its health app do not work with iOS
- RingConn app is stripped down, temperature trend not visible
