Honor Magic V5
What does Jen say about the Honor Magic V5?
The Honor Magic V5 is a nicely designed, modern foldable that leaves little to be desired. It is far ahead on battery, and the camera is really good for everyday use. The vibration motor is weak, and the competition has caught up.
Pros
- 5,820 mAh battery, two days of use at about 4 hours of screen time
- 6.43-inch outer display, usable like a normal smartphone in everyday life
- Both OLED displays up to 5,000 nits bright
- Good camera with a 64-megapixel periscope telephoto
- Barely wobbles on a table, nice colors, case included
Cons
- Very weak vibration motor, easy to miss calls
- Inner display is very reflective
- Screen protector on the outer display bubbles after a few weeks
- The competition has caught up in the meantime

Honor Magic V6
What does Jen say about the Honor Magic V6?
On paper, the Honor Magic V6 is clearly ahead of the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra in battery, charging, display, protection and telephoto camera. In the Fold8 Ultra's favor are DeX, the Galaxy AI suggestions in split screen and the Samsung ecosystem.
Pros
- Magic V6: 6,660 mAh, 80-watt charging and 66-watt wireless
- Magic V6: LTPO2 AMOLED with 5,000 nits and 4,320 Hz PWM dimming
- Magic V6: IP68/IP69 and 65-megapixel periscope telephoto
- Fold8 Ultra: crease 99.9% invisible according to Samsung, Samsung DeX and Galaxy AI in split screen
- Both devices very slim and light
Cons
- Fold8 Ultra: only 5,000 mAh, 45-watt charging, 20-watt wireless
- Fold8 Ultra: only IP48, 10-megapixel telephoto, camera bump makes it wobble on the table
- Fold8 Ultra: display only up to 3,000 nits
- Magic V6: video only up to 4K, Honor's ecosystem convinces Jen less for smartwatches and earbuds
