How do you find the right size for a smart ring?

From a video by Jen from Shown with: Smart rings from Oura, Samsung, RingConn and Ultrahuman

OuraSamsung Smart Rings

In short

Order the manufacturer's free sizing kit ahead of time and wear the test ring on your index finger for at least two days and two nights, ideally three.

Step by step

  1. Before buying, order the manufacturer's free sizing kit. According to Jen, all four tested manufacturers offer one.
  2. Put a test ring from the kit on an index finger. The kit contains all available sizes as plastic rings.
  3. Wear the test ring for at least two days and two nights, ideally three.
  4. Check that the ring is neither too loose nor too tight.
  5. If the ring doesn't fit on one day because of warmth, switch to the other index finger or another finger.

The ring is worn around the clock, so the size matters. If it is too tight, it presses. If it is too loose, you can lose it. If it doesn’t fit in the end, you have to send it back.

According to Jen, the instructions in the kits say to wear the test ring for one day and one night. Jen recommends more time: for her, two of the four rings in the tested size were too big, which may be down to warmth or puffiness on the test day. The sensors should sit on the palm side of the finger if possible.
