Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra

What does Jen say about the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra?

After two months, the Galaxy S24 Ultra is an Ultra device through and through, with a great display, camera, battery and build quality. Jen is bothered by the forced AI editing of selfies and the high weight of 232 g.

Pros

  • Completely flat 6.8-inch display with up to 2,600 nits and anti-reflective Gorilla Armor glass
  • Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, buttery smooth, more than two days of battery
  • Camera on the level of Jen's Sony compact camera, strong zoom
  • Improved Instagram and TikTok use with the device camera
  • Premium build quality, hardly any scratches after two months even without a case

Cons

  • AI automatically reworks selfies in low light, the original is overwritten
  • 232 g, big and heavy
  • Of the AI features, Jen only uses Circle to Search often in everyday life

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra

What does Jen say about the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra?

After three months, the Galaxy S25 Ultra is a robust smartphone with all the modern AI features and an outstanding battery. Weaknesses are the peeling display matte coating, the size and the slow charging. If it is too big for you, you can go for the S25 Plus.

Pros

  • Modern design with flat edges and extremely thin display bezels
  • Sharp and bright display, anti-reflective coating a game changer in sunlight
  • At 218 g, lighter than the Honor Magic 7 Pro and Xiaomi 15 Ultra
  • One UI 7 and seven years of updates, regular security updates
  • Best battery life Jen has ever tested: up to two days
  • Very good camera

Cons

  • At 6.9 inches and with the angular corners, too big, not a joy to hold
  • The matte coating of the display peels off in places after three months without a screen protector
  • Only 45 watts of charging power, not flagship level
  • Android 15 with One UI 7 reached other Samsung devices very late
  • Photos worse than on the Xiaomi 15 Ultra
  • S Pen without Bluetooth function

Galaxy S25 Ultra or S24 Ultra: which is the better choice?

If you have an S24 Ultra, you don't need an upgrade unless you want to use AI heavily, play graphically demanding games or get the better macro shots. Everyone else saves the money, goes for the S24 Ultra or waits for the S25 Edge.
