Google Pixel 8a

What does Jen say about the Google Pixel 8a?

The Pixel 8a has the display, Tensor G3, battery and AI features of the Pixel 8, but a weaker camera, thick bezels and no reverse wireless charging. With a price gap of only €50, Jen goes for the Pixel 8. At €349, the 8a would be interesting again.

Pros

  • Handy 6.1-inch OLED with 120 Hz
  • Tensor G3 like the Pixel 8, everything runs smoothly
  • All the AI photo editing features of the Pixel 8, such as Magic Eraser
  • Good battery life of up to a day and a half

Cons

  • Thick, asymmetric display bezels like on the Pixel 7a
  • Camera is well behind the Pixel 8 in benchmarks, no macro photos
  • No reverse wireless charging
  • Lower protection rating than the Pixel 8, which has IP68

Google Pixel 9a

What does Jen say about the Google Pixel 9a?

The Google Pixel 9a is a modern, handy smartphone with a good camera, a strong processor, AI features and outstanding battery life. For Jen, it is almost unbeatable as a compact device at this price. Gamers are better off with a current Galaxy.

  • Seven years of updates even on the cheaper model

Cons

  • Charging only at 23 watts wired and 7.5 watts wireless, no reverse wireless charging
  • Display glass is Corning Gorilla Glass 3 from 2013
  • Thick display bezels
  • No telephoto lens, selfie camera without autofocus
  • Optical fingerprint scanner only
